Trailering New Man of Steel

In the second trailer for Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel (June 14), the tone remains somber but the imagery becomes even more Christ-like as Superman (Henry Cavill) grapples with his duality: “The World’s too big, Mom.”

Clark saves a school bus, but his father, Jonathan Kent (Kevin Costner), is so worried about his son’s safety that he wonders if maybe he should’ve let the kids die. But Clark wants to change the world. Yet who will he grow up to be amid all of this destruction (we finally glimpse Michael Shannon’s Zod)?  Snyder told me at the Sucker Punch junket that he was looking forward to exploring an individual for the first time rather than a group. We are starting to glimpse his maturity as a director.
