Marvel Offers Phase 2 Preview

Get a glimpse of the Marvel plan for Phase 2 in a post Avengers world, focusing on Tony Stark’s existential journey in Iron Man 3 (May 3) while also sneaking Thor: The Dark World (Nov. 8), Captain America: The Winter Soldier (April 4, 2014), The Avengers 2, Ant-Man, and Guardians of the Galaxy.

Producer Kevin Feige explains how Iron Man 3 (with a big China presence) launches phase 2 of a plan in which Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark “has become part of a bigger universe.” But where do they go from here? Downey Jr. explains that the character and the world gets more grounded yet more complicated.

Meanwhile, we see Natalie Portman’s Janet teaming up with Chris Hemsworth’s hammer hero; Cap copes with coming back from the dead and dealing with things that haunt him; Guardians of the Galaxy is a far out space epic about “kick-ass cosmic warriors”; and Edgar Wright’s Ant-Man is like a cross between The Matrix and Men in Black with its own distinctive kung-fu style. And The Avengers 2 promises to unleash phase 3.
