Andy Serkis Coming to FMX 2014

Andy Serkis will deliver a keynote and show a sneak peek of Weta Digital’s performance capture work on Dawn of the Planet of the Apes at FMX 2014 (April 22-25 in Stuttgart, Germany).

In Matt Reeve’s Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (July 11), the growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth’s dominant species.

Serkis recently announced that he will be directing an adaptation of Richard Kipling’s The Jungle Book for Warner Bros.  He served as 2nd Unit Director on Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit trilogy (most recently, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug) and reprised the role of Gollum in The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. In October 2012, Serkis announced the acquisition of two projects that will be produced by his London based performance capture studio, The Imaginarium: The Bone Season, which Serkis will direct.

As a director, Serkis also helmed the award-winning Heavenly Sword for Playstation 3 and Enslaved: Odyssey to the West for Namco Bandai Games. In addition, he wrote and directed a short film called Snake, starring his wife, Lorraine Ashbourne and Rupert Graves.
