Watch the U.S. trailer for Hayao Miyazaki’s final masterpiece from Studio Ghibli, The Wind Rises, which is competing for the Oscar, the Annies, and The Golden Globes.
Inspired by the lives of aeronautics engineer Jiro Horikoshi and author Tatsuo Hori, The Wind Rises is exquisite and melancholy. Set between the World Wars, it pits artistic expression against the harsh realities of life. But it’s the former that’s highlighted in this visually poetic trailer.
Released by Disney’s Touchstone banner, The Wind Rises will first have a limited run in North America on Feb. 21st, 2014, and go wider on Feb. 28th.
