Trailering More Oscar-Contending Unbroken

The second Unbroken trailer introduces a larger conflict beyond the extraordinary survival story of the late Olympian war hero Louis Zamperini (Jack O’Connell). This will be an important factor in the Oscar race for best picture.

Zamperini was a rebellious trouble child and recalls how his brother inspired him to be “better than I am.” So he channeled all of his rage into becoming an Olympic champion runner. But that’s only the prelude to what he must endure being shot down and taken prisoner by the Japanese during World War II. They try to beat his indefatigable spirit in a test of wills but he’s already been battle tested.

Unbroken (Dec. 25) from director Angelina Jolie could be the one to beat with plenty of crafts awards potential as well, especially for cinematographer Roger Deakins, the 11-time nominee going for his first win.
