A somber Man of Steel (June 14, 2013) teaser trailer has been unveiled in two variations — homespun but heroic in a grounded, Right Stuff sort of way.
The teaser captures the essence of the existential journey for Henry Cavill’s Kal-El/Clark Kent, who is bearded and contemplates his future like a mariner as his two fathers dispense advice in voice-over. In one, Kevin Costner’s Jonathan Kent tells him “you’re not just anyone… one day you’ll have to make a choice…you have to decide what man you want to grow up to be.”
In the other, Russell Crowe’s Jor-El tells his hm that he “will give the people an ideal to strive towards” and “in time you will help them accomplish wonders.” The two voice overs wonderfully accentuate his identity crisis. Superman Begins.
