Gorgeous imagery abounds in this trailer for Life of Pi (Nov. 21), Ang Lee’s adaptation of Yann Martel’s acclaimed novel about a boy and his tiger and the director’s first foray into 3-D. Even flat, the sense of depth is apparent; and we experience the journey much more intimately. From the surreal storm at sea to the other worldly cloud-covered sky over the ocean to the enchanted encounters to the multicolored Indian splendor, Life of Pi plays to Lee’s visual and narrative strengths. Seventeen-year-old unknown Indian student Suraj Sharma shines in the lead as the castaway. Rhythm & Hues headlines the standout VFX work. Can’t wait to see this in 3-D.
