The new international trailer for Les Miserables (Christmas Day) shows off the exuberance, theatricality, and chill of Tom Hooper’s Oscar-contending adaptation of the landmark musical.
There’s definitely more music on display than merely Anne Hathaway’s soaring “I Dreamed a Dream” (including Russell Crowe, who’s passable with his limited range as Javert). It’s a dramatic clash of light and dark, and, like Lincoln, the timing and approach could be just right.
