Trailering Bondian Star Trek

The latest Star Trek Into Darkness international trailer is shaken, not stirred, echoing both Skyfall and Licence to Kill (fittingly on Timothy Dalton’s birthday).

It features a terrorist bombing in London and an admission from Starfleet command that Benedict Cumberbatch’s  baddie, John Harrison, was one of their top agents. He infiltrates their HQ and proclaims that “your commanders have committed a crime I cannot forgive” before blasting them from a hovercraft.

Chris Pine’s Kirk then goes on a vendetta to get Harrison but he can’t do it alone and must earn the trust of his Enterprise crew. But he’s met his dark side in Harrison, who insists he’s better at everything. Lots of great action (with VFX from ILM) and consequences to be confronted as Kirk continues his rite of passage in what appears to be J.J. Abrams’ nod to Bond.

Plus there’s a new poster Easter Egg of a scantily-clad Alice Eve as Dr. Carol Marcus accessed via a link from the UK and Australian trailers.

Star Trek Into Darkness opens May 15 in IMAX 3D May 15 and goes wide May 17.
