Making a Stop-Motion ParaNorman

Watch a quick making of ParaNorman’s lead character, utilizing state of the art 3D printing for face replacement, among other refinements.

Meanwhile, ParaNorman will make its presence felt at Comic-Con in Hall H on Friday, the 13th (10:45 am-11:45 am).  Kodi Smit-McPhee, Anna Kendrick, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Travis Knight, Chris Butler, and Sam Fell discuss making their new stop-motion-animated comedy thriller, made in 3-D. Never-before-seen footage will be shown from the Laika movie that Focus Features is opening nationwide on Aug. 17.

In addition, Yahoo! Movies will transform a 2,000 square foot Comic Con space into Movieland, so attendees can experience a life-size interactive game board with movie-related content (trivia, quizzes, etc.) customized to some of the summer’s biggest movies, including ParaNorman, Total Recall, and The Expendables 2.  Highlights from the experience will include: actual movie props, augmented reality photo booths, special visits from actors throughout the week, including Mintz-Plasse, and chances to win exclusive on-site prizes, including movie tickets.

The Movieland space is across the street from Comic-Con (located at 520 5th Ave.) and will be completely open to the public, festival passes are not required. Talent will make appearances there on Friday the 13th, and there will be a photo opportunity with characters from the film.

Also at the Yahoo! Movieland Experience from July 12-15, attendees will be able take their photo with Norman and his “Zombie Pals” in the small town of Blithe Hollow, the setting for ParaNorman. Everyone will walk away with a physical copy of their photo, as well as a digital copy emailed to them. Movieland will also host interviews with the actors and actresses from different films that will be part of Yahoo! Movies’ overall content coverage.
