Lincoln: Vampire Hunter Superhero Featurette

Producer Tim Burton, director Timur Bekmambetov, and writer Seth Grahame-Smith discuss the superhero aspects of Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter (June 22). With the premise that Lincoln’s mother was killed by vampires, who then rule the Southern slave trade to sustain the species, Lincoln is elevated to an axe-wielding superhero. For instance, Burton is reminded of Batman with the theme of vengeance. Bekmambetov, meanwhile, wants to uphold Lincoln’s humanity. The axe is his symbol of power. At the same time, Lincoln has to overcome insurmountable odds, according to Grahame-Smith, to attain mythic status.

These featurettes are awesome. Abe is a super badass. I made a fan trailer of Abe killing pretty much all the annoying prettyboy vampires that we’ve been smothered with over the past year and just wanted to share.
