Getting More Immersed with Indiewire

The Penske Media purchase of Indiewire has resulted in an expansion of my role as crafts and awards season contributor. ¬†Beginning this week, I begin Emmy coverage of below-the-line contenders along with my usual Oscar season crafts reporting, working closely with Anne Thompson, Indiewire’s full-time editor-at-large and awards editor, as well as publisher James Israel, editor-in-chief Dana Harris, and New York Deputy editor Eric Kohn.

In fact, I will soon officially become crafts editor at the best possible time as Indiewire celebrates its 20th anniversary. It’s a wonderful opportunity for enhanced prestige and growth with the new Indiewire, which is primed to become an even greater online entertainment trade powerhouse.

However, my expanded duties make it necessary to set aside Immersed in Movies so that I can concentrate on covering the industry in greater depth. It’s been an incredible ¬†five years owning my own site, and I look forward to the exciting challenges and opportunities ahead.

I encourage all of my readers and subscribers to continue reading me at, and following me on Facebook and @BillDesowitz.
