Finding Nemo Sequel Added to Pixar Slate

The post-Comic-Con buzz for Pixar, according to Deadline, is that Andrew Stanton will dive into a Finding Nemo sequel after his beleaguered John Carter. THR adds that Victoria Strouse (October Road series) is scripting with Lindsey Collins producing for a 2016 release. Meanwhile, the 3-D rendering of Stanton’s 2003 blockbuster (the second highest grosser in Pixar history) hits select theaters on Sept. 14.

Since Finding Nemo doesn’t cry out for an obvious sequel, finding a new premise and character arc will be challenging. Still, there are enough neuroses to go around in this wacky kettle of fish. For those counting, that’s three out of five originals: Monsters University (June 21), The Good Dinosaur (May 30, 2014), Pete Docter’s Inside the Mind of a Teenage Girl feature (June 19, 2015), and Lee Unkrich’s Dia De Los Muertos project (tbd).
