Christoph Waltz Bound for Bond 24

The ever reliable Baz Bamigboye reports that two-time Oscar winner Christoph Waltz (Big Eyes) has been cast in Bond 24, but it’s not clear whether he’s friend or foe or both. But it demonstrates the prestige factor that comes with having director Sam Mendes and star Daniel Craig.

The part is a complex one but then Waltz is adept at playing nuanced, cagey villains, and can deliver engaging monologues.  But will he play the baddie — or Blofeld?

Bond 24 (Oct. 23rd, 2015 in the UK and Nov. 6th domestically) starts shooting next month in Mexico, Austria, Morocco, Italy, and London.

Meanwhile, yesterday I interviewed Interstellar DP Hoyte van Hoytema and editor Lee Smith, who are both working on Bond 24. While they are both sworn to secrecy, the cinematographer confirmed that he will be shooting on film and that his favorite Bond movie is Skyfall, and the Australian Smith said his favorite is On Her Majesty’s Secret Service.
