Laika and Focus Features have renewed their distribution pact, with Focus distributing the next three stop-motion features domestically, and Universal Pictures International handling overseas. This is good news given the regime change at Focus and excellent box office start for The Boxtrolls, the Oscar contender which grossed $17.3 million last weekend, the biggest debut yet for Laika. ADG Expands Final Voting

The Art Directors Guild (ADG), Local 800 Council and producers of the 19th Annual Art Directors Guild’s Excellence in Production Design Awards have expanded its final second-phase voting for winners to include all members of the crafts that make up the nearly 2,300-member Guild. Final voting will now include Scenic, Title and Graphic Artists; Illustrators, Storyboard Artist and Matte Artists; and Set Design and Model Makers. The voting expansion change is effective with the upcoming ADG Awards, set for Jan. 31, 2015, at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. Read more

The Story of Frozen: Making a Disney Animated Classic, an original TV special that ventures behind-the-scenes of the Oscar-winning, top grossing animated movie of all time ($1.2 billion), will air Sept. 2 on ABC (8:00 -9:00 p.m., ET). The project is a collaboration between Lincoln Square Prods. and Walt Disney Animation Studios. The program will culminate with a sneak peek of Disney’s upcoming Big Hero 6 (Nov. 7) by directors Don Hall and Chris Williams. Read more
