While Argo and Ben Affleck unsurprisingly took the top prizes for best film and director today at the BAFTA Awards in London,  Pixar’s Scottish-flavored Brave won for best animated feature and Life of Pi for VFX  (Bill Westenhofer, Guillaume Rocheron, Erik-Jan De Boer). Life of Pi’s Claudio Miranda also scored the cinematography award; The Making of Longbird and Swimmer earned honors for best animated and live-action short, respectively. Read more

Coinciding with the acclaimed Lincoln, Steven Spielberg will be honored with the prestigious ACE Golden Eddie Filmmaker of the Year Award by the the American Cinema Editors. The award will be presented at the 63rd annual ACE Eddie Awards ceremony on Saturday, Feb. 16, in the International Ballroom of the Beverly Hilton Hotel. The American Cinema Editors (ACE) announced nominations for the 63rd annual Eddie Awards, with Argo, Life of Pi, Lincoln, Skyfall, and Zero Dark Thirty headlining dramatic feature and Brave, Frankenweenie, Rise of the Guardians, and Wreck-It Ralph leading for animated feature (a tie resulted in four nominees instead of three).
